About Bluegrass Greenworks

Mission: Building a World-Class Green Community

Purpose: To help build and empower an active community of businesses, educators, government agencies, non-profit/community groups and citizens

working toward a more healthy, sustainable and prosperous community

Bluegrass Greenworks Inc. (BGI) is a Kentucky non-profit corporation founded on Earth Day 2008 to carry out the above Mission and Purpose.  BGI recognizes the value of an active green community in driving healthy community development, sustainable economic growth and an exceptional quality of life.  We seek to assist the efforts of those in the community who share these goals by connecting them with one another, with the community, and with information, education and professional development opportunities. Current BGI projects include:

Bluegrass GreenExpo – The purpose of the GreenExpo is to bring together the business, education, government, and non-profit sectors to educate Kentuckians about green living, energy conservation and renewable energy solutions, and connect consumers with marketers of related products, services and lifestyles. Attractions include a Trade Show, Workshops, Kid’s Expo, Sustainability Street, Educational Exhibits, Demos and Tours, + Local Art, Music and Food. The community may participate as Sponsors, Exhibitors, Educators and Volunteers.

Bluegrass GreenGuide – The GreenGuide is a one-stop source for green-focused businesses, schools, government agencies, non-profits, and other resources serving the community.  If you are interested in purchasing more healthy, sustainable and energy saving products and services, the GreenGuide can connect you with the growing number of businesses that provide them.  You will also find many listings for Education, Government and Non-Profit resources to help you improve the quality of life for your family and community.

Bluegrass GreenGroups – GreenGroups was created to help local Government Agencies, Non-Profits and Educational Institutions coordinate their "greening” efforts so they can better use their limited time, energy and funds. Phase 1 includes the Greenworks Calendar & GreenLink newsletter, launched in May 2009 to connect the local green community with one another and with the public. Phase 2 begins planning for quarterly green community gatherings to share goals, accomplishments and needs, and explore collaboration opportunities. The gatherings will culminate with the annual Green Breakfast, held the day before the GreenExpo.

Bluegrass GreenBiz – GreenBiz is designed to facilitate the “greening” of the business community by connecting green-focused businesses with one another, with consumers, and with information and opportunities to increase the sustainability of their businesses and the community.  Planned activities include coop marketing, education, professional development, networking, member service discounts/trading, a “Green Card” buyer’s club, and community outreach through the GreenExpo, GreenGuide, GreenLink, Calendar & other projects.
