About Bluegrass Greenworks

Mission: Building a World-Class Green Community

Bluegrass Greenworks Inc. (BGI) is a Kentucky non-profit corporation founded to carry out the above Mission.  BGI recognizes the value of an active green community in driving healthy community development, sustainable economic growth and an exceptional quality of life.  We support those in the community who share these goals by connecting them with one another, with the larger community, and with educational opportunities. BGI projects include:

Bluegrass GreenExpo – The purpose of the GreenExpo is to bring together the business, education, government, and non-profit sectors to educate Kentuckians about green living, energy conservation and renewable energy solutions, and connect consumers with marketers of related products, services and lifestyles. Attractions include a Trade Show, Workshops, Kid’s Expo, Sustainability Street, Educational Exhibits, Demos and Tours, + Local Art, Music and Food. The community may participate as Sponsors, Exhibitors, Educators and Volunteers.

Bluegrass GreenGuide – The GreenGuide is a comprehensive guide to green-focused businesses, schools, government agencies, non-profits, and other resources serving the community.  It is a one-stop source for more healthy, sustainable and energy saving products and services, plus information and resources to help you improve the quality of life for your family and community.  It is available online at bluegrassgreenworks.org or via the print version published every April. A New GreenGuide Monthly was unveiled in January 2010.

GreenLink E-Newsletter & Calendar – Events and announcements are collected from all sectors of the “green community”, placed in the Calendar, and sent out every Thursday via the GreenLink Weekly.  The GreenLink Monthly informs recipients about BGI projects and other local initiatives. Beginning in 2010, the Monthly will include special offers and announcements from businesses and organizations participating in the New Bluegrass GreenCard program.

Bluegrass GreenGroups – GreenGroups helps government agencies, educational institutions, non-profits and community groups share information and ideas, and increase collaboration on community projects.  Local groups may become Friends (free) or Partners (sliding fee scale) and participate in the above projects, plus the New GreenGroups Quarterly Meetings*.

* The Quarterly Meetings increase communication and collaboration within the green community by bringing  together local groups to share Accomplishments, Goals, Needs & Collaboration Opportunities.

Bluegrass GreenBiz – GreenBiz connects green-focused businesses with one another, with consumers, and with information and resources to help them “green” their businesses, products and services.  Businesses may become Friends (free), Sponsors or Partners (sliding fee scale) and participate in the above projects, plus the New Bluegrass GreenCard Program*.

* The GreenCard Program provides special offers, discounts and other benefits to cardholders, while building a large community of active and informed green consumers.

Building a World-Class Green Community Presentation & Survey – A presentation for schools, churches, civic groups, neighborhood groups and others, followed by a survey to find out what a “World-Class Green Community” means to local citizens. The presentation will cover environmental issues that impact Central Kentucky, various local solutions to these issues, plus current local initiatives and how to support them or get involved.
