Internationally Renowned “Raven Run” Zero-Net-Energy Site Tour – Professor Richard Levine Presenter

Saturday Only - 10:30 am–12:15 pm

Designed in 1975, “Raven Run” was the first residence in Kentucky to combine superinsulation, passive and active solar systems, a geothermal heat pump, and an attached greenhouse.  Internationally published, Raven Run’s innovations were widely emulated and its super-efficient multi-stage air collection system received a U.S. patent. Its unique form and spaces demonstrate that responsiveness to sun, site, climate and lifestyle can indeed generate a new architecture.  A 5.25kW (30 panel), grid-intertie, photovoltaic array, with Enphase micro-inverters was added in 2009 to the nearby CSC Design Studio office. This PV array offsets the yearly electrical consumption for the entire property, making it a zero-net-energy site.
